Keren Olam HaTorah's historic mission to the U.S. arrived in Boro Park on Wednesday, June 17, for a day of chizuk that brought together an extraordinary delegation of gedolei Torah and a massive outpouring of support from local tomchei Torah.

The first gathering took place at the home of R' Yoel Leifer, with Rav Dov Landau, Rav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, Rav Don Segal, Rav Yaakov Hillel, the Rachmastrivka Rebbe, Rav Yitzchak Ezrachi, Rav Yosef Chevroni, and Rav Avraham Salim among the distinguished rabbanim present.

Rav Don Segal opened with a reflection on the nature of tzedaka. He recalled a baal teshuvah who struggled with giving: "I work hard for my money — how can I simply give it away?" Klal Yisroel, Rav Don explained, are by nature rachamanim, and giving is not a loss but a joyous privilege. In this moment of need, the call of "Mi LaHashem Eilai!" is being sounded once again.

Rav Yaakov Hillel reiterated - as he had throughout the mission - that hashgacha has arranged for Torah to be sustained by those who genuinely cherish it, and that Torah upheld through the devotion of Klal Yisroel will flourish.

Rav Avraham Salim noted that beyond the financial support itself, what has moved the yungeleit and roshei yeshivah of Eretz Yisroel most is the sense of embrace they feel from their brethren across the ocean. Having traveled throughout North America, he said, he witnessed firsthand the extraordinary ahava shown for the lomdei Torah of Eretz Yisroel.

The Rachmastrivka Rebbe closed with a powerful insight: the Gemara teaches that a rebbi's lost object takes precedence over a father's, because while a father brings a person into this world, a rebbi helps bring him to Olam Haba. Those who support the rebbi and enable him to teach, the poskim say, share a cheilek in that very role — becoming shutfim in bringing countless Jews to Olam Haba.

The delegation then continued to the home of R' Moshe Psherhoffer. The Rachmastrivka Rebbe opened by reflecting on the words of Shir HaShirim, where Hashem is said to be standing at the door and knocking. This moment, he said, is precisely such a call. Those who answer and open the door through their support of Torah help usher the Shechinah back among Klal Yisroel and bring the Geulah closer. He spoke emotionally of the "giborei koach" — the yungeleit who persevere despite mounting financial pressure, and their wives who continue to encourage their husbands' dedication to Torah.

Rav Yosef Chevroni then shared a vort from the Alter of Slabodka: before Matan Torah, reaching the level of a malach was extraordinary. But once the Torah was given, it granted every Yid the ability to rise even higher than the malachim. The lomdei Torah of today, persevering under such difficult circumstances, embody exactly that greatness.

As Rav Dov Landau departed for the airport, a crowd had gathered outside simply to catch a glimpse of the Rosh Yeshivah. He paused, raised both hands, and gave them a bracha, marking a fitting close to a day of chizuk, achdus, and ahavas hatorah.
